A Pair of Detentions Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident
An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals sustained injuries by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to police.
A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area on suspicion of theft and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.
These detentions come after a probe into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women had stolen from them their luggage upon exiting a car park lift.
A three-year-old girl was among the injured in the event. Five people went to hospital for medical care and have since been released.
Officers detained a 31-year-old man for suspected theft and assault close to the location. He has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue.
Police were called at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of several people hurt by an irritating chemical thought to be pepper spray.
The attack - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - caused train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
